Kicking off the relaunch of this website with the first featured image: Casey Jefferies screaming up the mountain with ski tips high and the waters of Port Valdez in the background.
Casey and I have been riding together for years and by now we barely need to speak to get the shot we want. I'd already started carrying a camera on every ride when Casey and I met in Valdez during his first season; he was already riding like a pro. I snapped some decent enough photos of his group to earn an invitation back any time I wanted to ride with the locals. I took them up on that. Every season, Valdez and Thompson Pass were my goal, and each time I rolled into town, Casey and I made a point to ride together. We started producing some awesome photos when we rode/shot together. I had described a bucket list photo to him some time ago: a rider climbing the mountainside with water in the background. He knew the perfect spot and it happened to be one of the last zones in the area I hadn't explored yet, we just needed the right conditions. A few years later, we got them. My planned trip down lined up with great conditions and a great crew to ride with, so when I asked Casey where he wanted to ride, you can imagine my excitement when he suggested a spot overlooking the water. Years of waiting turned into a few minutes ride from the parking lot to where we found the perfect spot.
"I'll be there, you come up from there, and tips up when you come across THAT edge."
"Got it."

Got it.

Casey is a Valdez local. He rides a Ski-Doo Freeride for Delta Powersports (where you can see this image as a mural on their wall). You'll find him outside no matter the season, probably leading a group to some of the best scenery they've ever riden. Check out his Instagram below to follow along as he rips around Alaska!
